This is as close to a perfect hotel as I've ever stayed in. If you're in the area make a point to stay if you need a stopover. The town is super cool, the hotel and bar and restaurant are amazing. What a treat.

Loved this hotel, ended up staying an unexpected second night and we loved it here. Clean, smelled good, spacious, quiet, comfy, cozy, room 216 is where it’s at.

We stayed there early in the off-season but everything was top-shelf. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were a delight and very comfortable. The location was fantastic for walking around the town as well as driving to park locations. The restaurant was delicious. The entire facility made you feel like you had stepped back in time but kept all the modern amenities. During season there are other places that are open but stay at the Rough Riders Hotel.

Clean rooms but like other guides have said on here, even when the hotel is near empty they will group everyone together right next to each other so ask for a room away from others if you notice it’s light on guests. Some space between rooms of people would have been nice. I’d like hotel management to explain why they do this? The dining room is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for some reason so we went to the saloon for dinner down the street which was packed. Begs the question why rough riders grill doesn’t capitalize on that?

Stayed in the Historic Suite 501 while in town visiting and attending a show at the Town Hall. Beautiful room and view.

I would love to give this 5 stars since it’s an interesting hotel and has a nice restaurant and bar. I have to take away a star though. We checked in on a very cold, snowy night. We were one of maybe 5 other guests in the hotel. They put us in a room right next to other guests. I think they put everyone next to each other. We could have easily been spaced out and had a little more quiet and solitude. Additionally we were directed to park in a lot with several inches of unplowed snow. Just a small space next to the door had been shoveled.

This looked like a great location and indeed it was. They had amazing staff! We had been hiking all morning until check in so we were sweaty and exhausted when we arrived. Our rooms were not ready so they quickly shifted us into rooms that were ready so we didn’t have to wait. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the rooms were very clean and comfortable and I would highly recommend!

Not that Medora is a big town but the hotel is centrally located. Rooms are very nice, beds comfortable and it’s quiet.
